FRENCH GOV’T OFFICIAL DIALOGS WITH FILIPINO FILMMAKERS IN CINEMALAYA AT THE CCP
Alain Bégramian, an officer of the French government’s Centre National du Cinema (CNC), will give a talk on July 23, 10am-12pm at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ MKP Hall. Bégramian’s speaking engagement, courtesy of the French Embassy, is one of the special events of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition on July 17-26 at the CCP.
Since 1998, Bégramian has been Counsellor for Export and International Distribution. As such he has been coordinating with Unifrance regarding the international release of French films, as well as assistance for film exports.
In the 1980s, he was head of the Cultural Department of the CNC, in charge particularly on assistance to the distribution of films, particularly of films with limited distribution, such as the films of Lino Brocka, assistance to Art Films, assistance to Festivals and organization of film workshops and training. He was also Chief Editor of the publication “Lumière”.
In his talk at the CCP, Bégramian will present the French government’s model of giving assistance and support for filmmakers. He will dialog with Filipino filmmakers and members of the film industry to explore the possibility of cooperation and developing a co-production agreement between France and the Philippines.
