A film about children, a film for the children:
“Sampaguita, National Flower” debuts in Europe

15 February 2011, Berlin - The applause was spontaneous, heartfelt, at times wild, complemented by high-pitched whistles and catcalls, coming from the theater’s gallery packed with around 200 German schoolchildren and their mentors. The event was the premier showing of the award-winning film “Sampaguita, National Flower,” directed by Francis Xavier Pasion, at the annual Berlinale International Film Festival – Generation section. It was Sampaguita’s debut in the European cinema circuit. As the gallery lights dimmed for the commencement of the film, one could feel the tense excitement in the air inside the packed theater.
