Sheryl Rose M. Andes is a development worker, filmmaker, and educator. She obtained her BS in Community Development and MA in Media Studies (Film) degrees from the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
She has a decade of experience in non-government organizations (NGO) as community organizer in Tondo and project evaluator /consultant for catholic European funding agencies.
At present, she teaches documentary and digital cinema production courses for college students. “Pandanggo sa Hukay” is her first feature film.
Personal is political.
“Pandanggo sa Hukay” is an epitome of a woman’s journey as a mother, daughter, and devoted midwife in the urban areas in Cavite who dances her way to have a better quality of life. The film serves as a microcosm of reproductive healthcare situation in the Philippines, particularly happening in maternity clinic.
“Pandanggo sa Hukay” is a story is about women and women’s issues told by a woman and a women-led production team.
