The 21st Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival officially set sail with a press conference held at the Shangri-La Plaza East Atrium on September 3, 2025.

Festival Director Chris Millado unveiled this year’s theme, β€˜CINEMALAYA 21: LAYAG sa alon, hangin, at unos,’ reflecting the festival’s decades of weathering every storm of its era.

Chairman of the Cinemalaya Competition and Monitoring Committee, Carlitos Siguion-Reyna along with CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Dennis Marasigan announced the 10 full-length and 10 short films competing in the festival, which runs from October 3 to 12, 2025, with its main venue at Shangri-La Plaza.

The press conference also featured the presence of CCP President Kaye Tinga, Shangri-La Plaza Corporation Senior Retail Marketing Manager Arriane Nadurata, CFI President Laurice Guillen, and FDCP Education Division Head Rica Arevalo.

Media, artists, and invited guests were treated to an exclusive first look at the omnibus trailer and individual film teasers, setting sail for another memorable Cinemalaya cinematic journey.
